About the Model
OVATION‑AACGM integrates the AACGM v2 coordinate system into the OVATION Prime framework to improve auroral visibility forecasting at mid‑latitudes in East Asia, where geomagnetic geometry deviates significantly from dipole approximations. The model derives physically consistent visibility thresholds and provides probabilistic forecasts based on AACGM distance, validated against DMSP/SSUSI satellite data and ground‑based optical observations.
